It's a very "soulful Enneagram 3" vibe.

Wow this is a perfect accompaniment to The Journey of Soul Initiation which I found last week and am completely engrossed by. Have you read it? This passage describes the descent to soul, and its harrowing, especially for an Enneagram 3!

Hey Edwin! I haven’t read it, but I have Plotkin’s “Wild Mind” in my Amazon cart right now and that one’s on my list.

I really think you’ll love this book as it normalizes and gives a map for the harrowing transformation you are going through. This is a truly important book IMO.

Hi Leigh, loved this. Thanks for introducing me to David Whyte, never heard of him before but always appreciate a good philosopher. When I worked in corporate I definitely felt like I was leaving a good chunk of who I was at the door. I put on my "corporate marketing guy" persona and got down to business. And of course no talk about spirituality, soulfulness, etc allowed. Some days I cared about and was interested in what I was doing, other days I was only pretending to care. I didn't like being inconsistent in that way, and out of integrity with myself, but they were paying me to do a job and I needed money so I just did it. I wonder how many people go to work feeling the same way? Some studies show that 2/3 to 3/4 of employees are "disengaged" at their jobs, and I'm not surprised. Thanks for sharing, and I also liked hearing you read this. I may tinker with the sound feature on here too. Hope you have a great day!

Thanks for listening, Dave! Yes, exactly. How sad that it’s “normal” to not feel permission to bring your entire self to a part of life that takes so much of our time. Later in the book, David has some great thoughts on creating an equal balance of soul and strategy — that we need both. Let me know if you end up checking it out or reading any more of his stuff.
